Section 1
1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Ending Improper Payments to Deceased People Act.

2. Improving coordination between Federal and State agencies and the Do Not Pay working system Section 801(a) of title VIII of division FF of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (Public Law 116–260) is amended by striking paragraph (7) and inserting the following: by adding at the end the following paragraph: (11) Upon the completion of the 3-year period that begins on December 27, 2023, the Commissioner of Social Security shall, to the extent feasible, provide information furnished to the Commissioner under paragraph (1) to the agency operating the Do Not Pay working system described in section 3354(c) of title 31, United States Code, or an agent thereof, to prevent improper payments to deceased individuals through a cooperative arrangement with such agency, provided that the requirements of subparagraphs (A) and (B) of paragraph (3) are met with respect to such arrangement with such agency. Under such arrangement, the agency operating the Do Not Pay working system, or an agent thereof, may compare the information so provided by the Commissioner with personally identifiable information derived from a Federal system of records or similar records maintained by a Federal contractor, a Federal grantee, or an entity administering a Federal program or activity, and may redisclose such comparison of information, as appropriate, to any Federal or State agency authorized to use the working system.. Section 801(b)(2) of title VIII of division FF of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (Public Law 116–260) is amended by striking on the date that is 3 years after the date of enactment of this Act and inserting December 28, 2026. The amendments made by this section shall take effect on December 28, 2026.
