1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Loan Equity for Advanced Professionals Act.

2. Annual and aggregate loan limits for graduate and professional students Section 455(a)(4) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1087e(a)) is amended— by amending subparagraph (A) to read as follows: Subject to paragraphs (7)(A) and (8), beginning on July 1, 2026, the maximum annual amount of Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford loans, that a graduate student or professional student may borrow in any academic year or its equivalent, shall be $50,000. by amending subparagraph (B) to read as follows: Subject to paragraphs (6), (7)(A), and (8), beginning on July 1, 2026, the maximum aggregate amount of Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford loans, in addition to the amount borrowed for undergraduate education, that a graduate student or professional student may borrow for any program of study described in clause (i) or (ii) of subparagraph (C) shall be $200,000.
