Section 1
1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Energy Choice Act.
Section 2
2. Limitations on regulation of energy choice No State or local government, or instrumentality or regulatory agency thereof, may adopt a law, ordinance, building code, or efficiency standard that prohibits, or has the effect of prohibiting, the connection, reconnection, modification, installation, or expansion of an energy service based on the type or source of energy to be delivered to an end-user of such energy service. In this section, the term energy includes— natural gas; renewable gas; hydrogen; liquified petroleum gas; renewable liquified petroleum gas; other liquid petroleum products; biomass-based diesel fuels; other liquid petroleum products and renewable fuels; and electricity.
