Section 1
1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Funding Officers and Resources To Increase Facility Youth Protection Act or the FORTIFY Act.
Section 2
2. Authorization to hire school resource officers under matching grant program for school security Section 2701 of part AA of title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (34 U.S.C. 10551) is amended— in subsection (a)(1), by striking through (9) and inserting through (12); and in subsection (b)— by redesignating paragraph (9) as paragraph (12); and by inserting after paragraph (8) the following: Hiring school resource officers (as such term is defined in section 1709). Purchasing firearms and protective equipment for school resource officers. Purchasing vehicles, including all terrain vehicles, golf carts, scooters, and bicycles, for use by school resource officers. Section 2702 of part AA of title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (34 U.S.C. 10552) is amended by adding at the end the following: The Attorney General shall provide technical assistance to States, units of local government, and Indian tribes to improve access to grants under this part for rural and geographically underserved areas. Section 2703(a) of part AA of title I of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (34 U.S.C. 10553) is amended— by striking and the activities and inserting the activities; and by inserting before the period at the end the following: , and how the provision of technical assistance under section 2702(c) has improved access to grants under this part for rural and geographically underserved areas.
