Section 1
1. Short title This Act may be cited as the Know Your Body Act.
Section 2
2. Educational materials Not later than one year after the date of enactment of this Act, and at least every five years thereafter, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, acting through the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Women’s Health, shall— create or update evidence-based, medically accurate educational materials with respect to covered disorders, including— the timing, signs, and symptoms of each covered disorder; the impacts of covered disorders on the physical, emotional, social, and academic life of an individual; statistics on covered disorders; evidence-based, medically accurate best practices on how an individual with a covered disorder can be a health care advocate for such individual; and evidence-based, medically accurate treatment options for covered disorders, including evidence-based, medically accurate recommendations for follow-up care from a health care provider; in consultation with the Secretary of Education, make such materials— widely accessible and publicly available to students of elementary schools and secondary schools; and informative and understandable to such students; and provide guidance to elementary schools and secondary schools on how the materials may be used, including— integrating the materials into a curriculum; and distributing the materials to students. In this section: The term covered disorders means uterine, ovarian, and related hormonal and menstrual disorders, such as endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and polycystic ovary syndrome. The terms elementary school and secondary school have the meanings given such terms in section 8101 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 7801).
